Disabled access statement

The staff at the White Horse are always happy to help, as much as they can. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need any assistance.

We have our own car park, with plenty of room to gain access to and from your vehicle. The car park is sloped, however we have not found this to be a problem.

There is a distance of around 30-50 metres (90-150 foot) which involves crossing a quiet, but main road to get access to the pub. On arrival at the pub, there is a standard height cobbled kerb to pass to get to the front door, or a smoother flatter access to the side.

There is a roadside access to the side door, marked "B" where other vehicles can pass, and we can arrange parking on the garden driveway if required.

There is no street lighting in Bodle Street Green. if you are visually impaired, you might prefer your driver to bring your vehicle nearer the door for pick-ups and drop-offs.

Our road features a wide variety of pot-holes which are constantly changing in width and depth, but may be difficult to see at night time. We are happy to help assist and accompany you with torch-light if needed.

The White Horse has two main entrances. One to the front, and one roadside on the side of the pub.

Entrance 'A' is at the front, and measures 785mm (2'7") at narrowest, however there is a step up, 200mm (8") which is a little skewed.

Entrance 'B' is our side door. On the approach there is a small but smooth bump like a sleeping policeman, 300mm wide and 40mm high which is easily passed.

There is an 1150mm (3'9") gap between the brick piers outside, and we can arrange convenient parking in the garden driveway if required.

At Entrance 'B' we have an aluminium ramp, which helps with the 125mm high threshold.

The ramp when fitted has a rise of 125mm over 1200mm length, making the gradient some 1:10, a little steeper than a standard ramp but safe when assisted.

There is a little drop of 40mm (1½") at the end of the ramp, but there is a small, well... let's call it a wedge... to take the bump out.

Ladies Toilets

The ladies has a first door at 825mm (2'8") wide, with an immediate 90° turn to the right. The entrance lobby would be wide enough to provide a reasonable turning circle.

The ladies second door is 725mm (2'5") which leads into the main Ladies area with the hand dryer to your left and sink in front of you.

Each cubicle has an access door of 660mm (2'2") however wheelchair access here is restricted, and turning could be difficult. We recommend having assistance as reversing out may be your easiest option, however you will need help with the doors as they are fitted with automatic closing devices.

Gent Toilets

The initial door is 800mm (2'7") wide leading into a small lobby area, with some storage to the right. Turning circles are restricted at this point.

There is a left turn into the main Gent's area through a door 765mm (2'6") wide.

The urinal is to your left, however this is positioned for a user in a standing position. The cubical is in front of you with an access door of 665mm (2'2") wide, but an immediate left turn is required. There is no option to turn wheelchairs here. Standing or well assisted access is recommended.

The White Horse is naturally partitioned into two halves. The Pub half (highlighted in green) and the restaurant (in lilac). The areas marked with the numbers 1-3 are great areas for wheelchair users, as they are easily accessed with plenty of space around for assistance.

We have found these positions the most popular because they get you fully into the pub.

Never ever enter the kitchen if you value your own safety.

In here we keep our highly trained, but as-yet untamed staff who are well armed with knives and fire.

Your personal safety and survivability cannot be guarenteed in this area, and although you may manage to leave alive you may never ever be psycologically stable ever again.

The powers that be like to ensure that we have an extensive and wide variety of constantly changing pot-holes, to give you that rustic, safari-like off-road driving experience to enjoy on every visit to the White Horse.

We like to think that the constantly changing pot-holes make each visit a truly unique one!

Please drive carefully, and take extra special care in wet conditions, as the puddles can make them much harder to spot. Please don't drink and drive as you are likely to spill it.

Please slow down when passing on-coming traffic, as the worst holes and inebriated people are often found at the outer edges of the road.
